Alley Boy Passes Away At 42

Atlanta’s hip-hop community is mourning the loss of Alley Boy, who has reportedly died at the age of 42 following a lengthy battle with kidney disease, according to AllHipHop. News of his passing began circulating on Sunday, although no official statement had been issued by his family or representatives at the time of publication. Born Curt Freeman, the Atlanta rapper had openly shared his health struggles in recent years as he searched for a life-saving kidney transplant.

As word of his death spread, tributes quickly poured in from fellow artists and longtime friends. Big Bank, DJ Scream, Rocko, and Hot Boy Turk were among those who paid their respects online, remembering Alley Boy for both his impact on Atlanta rap and the authenticity that made him one of the standout voices from the city’s Zone 6.

Alley Boy was candid about the health issues that led to his condition. In a conversation on the A Humble Soul podcast, he revealed that years of drinking lean, combined with complications from high blood pressure, had severely damaged his kidneys. He often spoke about his past as a codeine dealer as well, using his experiences to warn others about the consequences of substance abuse. By 2024, he had been undergoing dialysis three times each week for well over a year while waiting for a transplant that sadly never materialized.

Throughout his career, Alley Boy established himself as an influential figure in Atlanta’s trap movement. He built a loyal following in the underground scene before co-founding Duct Tape Entertainment, a label that eventually landed a distribution partnership with Asylum/Atlantic Records. His catalog includes collaborations with some of hip-hop’s biggest names, including Gucci Mane, Young Jeezy, Future, Freddie Gibbs, Pusha T, Yo Gotti, Meek Mill, and Master P, among others.

Rest in peace, Alley Boy.
